BASE Institute Programs & Activities

BASE Institute engages in an assortment of activities relating to Bible archaeology, research, exploration and public education. The goal is to present credible archaeological information that is sound in scholarship, but also interesting and motivational to the general public.

Though BASE has an Advisory Board consisting of accomplished academics and Bible scholars, the constituency served by BASE is the general public. The objective is to translate the dry, academic pursuit of Biblical truth into a medium which is interesting, motivational and relevant for any sincere seeker of truth.

Bible Research & Exploration

BASE recruits and coordinates the work of archaeologists, Bible scholars, scientists, specialists and other volunteers to conduct research on Bible related archaeological projects.

BASE sponsors fact-finding missions throughout the world, gathering evidence and information not available to institutional archaeologists. BASE also assists academic institutions and government agencies by assembling, or assisting teams of archaeologists and other specialists, who work on-site to accomplish site excavations and field research.

Education

BASE uses the media attention from its high-profile cases to attract interest in serious archaeology, and to encourage Bible reading and research by the general public.

The BASE educational program includes speeches to both secular and religious audiences, video & audio tape programs, reference materials, contributions to books, magazine & newspaper articles, and producing study materials to promote interest in the fields of Biblical archaeology and Bible research.

Medical & Humanitarian Assistance

The staff and volunteers at BASE Institute believe that conducting responsible, modern archeological research also includes providing care and demonstrating concern for the people who live in the area of these archaelogical missions. Therefore, as a routine aspect of its work, BASE includes medical and public health specialists as integral members of its field teams.
