We cross the most ancient of seas as our cruise begins on the Sea of Marmara, moves into the Aegean Sea, into the Ionian Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and, finally, into Italy’s Tyrrahenian Sea. Our 10-day, luxury Bible study vacation begins in Istanbul and ends in Rome – the Eternal City.

Merry Christmas all.

I just received this email today.  It is wonderful Christmas present and I wanted to share it with all of you in the BASE family of support. They write:

..  “.Just wanted to tell you that our 9 year old son has been enjoying the Lost Shipwreck of Paul book recently as we have been reading it aloud as a family and immensly enjoyed the new DVD.  He has also been teaching his grandfather about Mt. Sinai.  Our 2 young sons go “under cover” and act out your trek into Saudi Arabia.  You are doing a mighty work and anytime we challenge traditions of man, we can come into the murky waters of bitterness.  We want to take a moment at Christmas to thank you for your dedication and work for our Lord in your ministry.”

As we prepare to speak at numerous events in 2012, as we have done for many years, we are also providing humanitarian aid and ministry to widows and orphans in Ethiopia. Last year BASE Institute took a big leap of faith and took a medical team into Ethiopia where lives were literally saved because of  funds provided by BASE.  When we visit with our tour and Doctor in January 2012 we will be able to continue our effort to improve the lives of many in Axum, Ethiopia.

Hundreds of impoverished people were given aid and comfort on the last trip and more will be helped this year. Sixty-four homeless widows with children were given money and shelter. BASE Medical clinics were able to provide medical service to many who had never even seen a doctor.

We have an incredible team, once again, for our January 2012 tour. Some of the team will work in the same orphanages and medical clinics as last year’s team, but we expect the numbers will increase. We are also happy to have another Medical Doctor along this year as the Ethiopian people are in desperate need of medical attention.  But with increased numbers of patients, the need for assistance also increases.

Therefore, this note is to simply ask that you help and support BASE in this endeavor. I know many of you may be thin in the wallet this time of year, and so is BASE. But I pledge to you that we will use all of our year end funds in the most effective way possible. It is in anxious times like this that God does miraculous things, so we pray and ask for your kind support. We make a little go a long way at BASE.
